The Levittown Slammers’ dream ride came to an end last night.

The 16-and-under girls softball team from Long Island, which became the first Metro-area team to qualify for the Babe Ruth World Series in Lamar, Colo., lost 8-7 in eight innings to Wausau (Wis.), which advanced to the championship game to play Wilson County (N.C.) tonight.
