The Liberty committed 18 turnovers and showed exactly why they won’t be in the WNBA playoffs this year during last night’s 69-63 loss to the Indiana Fever at the Garden.

“That’s been a problem most of the season for us, so without Shameka Christon, Loree Moore, and Janel MCarville out there, it’s a tough role for our bench to just step into,” coach Anne Donovan said after her team fell to 12-20.

“Indiana is one of the best teams in the league.”

The Fever (22-10) used an 11-0 run in the game’s first five minutes to take a 13-8 lead. The Liberty tied it in the fourth quarter at 59-59, but the Fever went on a 10-4 run to end the game.

“We had 23 first-half points,” Donovan said. “In the second half, we came back and scored 40 points and we did better things offensively.”

Katie Douglas and Tameka Catchings each had 17 points for Indiana. Essence Carson scored 17 for the Liberty, who have lost three in a row.
