THIRD RACE: Scared away by return of Achilles of Troy, runaway winner of last winter’s Count Fleet and Whirlaway over inner dirt track, only four other horses were entered for $50G allowance optional claimer; only three ran after two late scratches including Achilles of Troy. Executive Choice, 4-5, opened daylight down backside under C.C. Lopez, then even-money Take the Bluff, Coa up, ranged up to press pace. Take the Bluff pulled clear heading into far turn, Take the Bluff went after him again, hooked him turning for home, and those two dueled to deep stretch, when Take the Bluff edged clear, then held off late charge of 4-1 Thundering Success under Garcia.

FIFTH RACE: Lady Elaine, who pressed pace before tiring for $14G last out coming off short freshening, was 14-1, shook loose under Fragoso. Kissin Damsel and Genevil both tried to go after her heading into far turn, Sydsational mounted wide rally, but after briefly looking vulnerable, Lady Elaine kicked clear again, drew off down stretch as much best.

SEVENTH RACE: Prince Benjamin, 2-1 with blinkers added stepping back up to $10G after being claimed for $7.5G, opened daylight lead down backside while in hand under Rudy Rodriguez, tracked by Run Along Sonny, with even-money favorite Mt. Majesty, Garcia up taking big drop from NY-bred allowance, stalking outside. Around far turn, Mt. Majesty mounted his bid while wide, easily went past Run Along Sonny to hook Prince Benjamin turning for home. Those two battled head to head down length of stretch, with stubborn Prince Benjamin finally yielding late as Mt. Majesty prevailed.
