LOS ANGELES — Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli will almost certainly face internal discipline over a furious touchline bust-up with manager Roberto Mancini Sunday during the English Premier League team’s tour of the US.

The controversial Balotelli had already put City ahead from the spot in its friendly with David Beckham’s LA Galaxy, after defender Micah Richards had been fouled.

Balotelli was then sent clear of the home defense on the half hour but instead of attempting to score normally, he tried a complicated pivot, followed by a backheel that rolled wide.

Mancini was clearly furious and immediately substituted Balotelli, replacing him with James Milner.

The 20-year-old Italian responded with a few choice words to the City boss as he made his way to the bench, indicating that he did not understand what he had done wrong.

Mancini responded, presumably pointing out how disrespectful the move had been, and walked after the forward down the touchline.

Balotelli angrily took his place on the bench before throwing his water bottle to the ground in disgust.

The game finished 1-1 after normal time, but City went on to win 7-6 in a penalty shootout.
