And so far, that is not a good thing.

New Browns coach Eric Mangini and DT Shaun Rogers’ relationship is off to a rocky start. Rogers is asking the Browns not to pick up the $6 million option-bonus payment due to him next month, a source close to Rogers told NFL.com. Rogers would prefer to be let go by the team, which means he is willing to leave $15 million worth of guaranteed money on the table to get out of Cleveland and away from Mangini.

Rogers, who made the Pro Bowl last season, desperately wants out of Cleveland and will not change his mind, according to friends. Mangini could be the problem, Adam Schefter writes.

“Some of Rogers’ feelings stem back to two offseason incidents in which he believes Mangini disrespected him. The first time, Mangini walked into the Browns’ training room and failed to say hello to Rogers. The next time, at a public charity function in which both men were in the green room, neither said hello to the other, and Mangini later said he didn’t know Rogers was there.”

And according to ESPN, Rogers recently asked Mangini for a meeting, but the former Jets coach turned him down saying there would be no individual meetings until March 16.

And Mangini might be messing with his former team. Profootballtalk.com believes Mangini and new GM George Kokinis have “lukewarm” feeling about Brady Quinn, who was thought to be the team’s franchise quarterback.

Which means that the Browns may not be willing to part with backup QB Derek Anderson, a player the Jets were rumored to be interested in trading for.
