Saying he wants to play in the NBA, Stephon Marbury is looking forward to resuming his basketball career in China.
Speaking on “The Dan Patrick Show,” Marbury said he will play in China for the next month-and-a-half.
“I want to play basketball,” Marbury said on the radio program. “I want to get back into the game. I know I still can play.”
The former Knicks guard leaves for China on Monday. Contacted two months ago, Marbury said he was undecided about going at first.
“I know that they love basketball and I know that they’re really excited about me coming, so that’s a plus,” Marbury said. “And there’s a lot of positive energy from all of what I’ve been hearing.”
The Coney Island native said the last NBA team to contact him was Boston, for whom he played last season, but a deal for this season did not work out.
“I don’t think I’m being blackballed,” Marbury said. “I’m good enough to play on an NBA team.”
