TIM McCARVER vs. JOE MORGAN

Here’s the major difference between Fox’ Tim McCarver and ESPN’s Joe Morgan:

McCarver tells you what is going to happen. Morgan explains what just happened.

McCarver sometimes seems clairvoyant with his first-guesses. Perhaps his most famous and best call came during last year’s World Series, when he said Yankee manager Joe Torre should’ve had his infield back – right before Luis Gonzalez’ Game 7-winning single barely made it out of the infield.

The drawback on McCarver’s game is that he can harp on points, which makes him sound like a pestering parent at times.

Meanwhile, the solid Morgan is less noticeable than McCarver. Morgan doesn’t teach as much as McCarver, but he doesn’t get your nerves as much, either. The one time he did around here was when he was perceived to have an anti-Yankee bias.

In the end, in arguably the closest Matchup of all-time, the winner is Morgan.
