ESPN’s Sean Salisbury is one of those analysts who takes out the “You never played the game” card, which usually means an ex-jock can’t decisively articulate his point.

Salisbury’s problem is that he makes strong statements but rarely backs them up. His opinions are like fast food – tasty at first, but ultimately unsatisfying.

Ron Jaworski, also of ESPN, is the opposite. The QB who led the Eagles to the 1980 Super Bowl spends a lot of time studying game tapes at NFL Films. He dissects the action, coming up with strong opinions as a result of research. When “Jaws” unveils sharp teeth, you must listen.

He provides more insight than Salisbury does, and that’s why Jaworski earns the coveted Matchup victory.
