Tom Seaver has been better than many anticipated when he replaced Tim McCarver. But Keith Hernandez – who lately has received more pub than Norm from “Cheers” – is a better analyst than Seaver.

Many times Seaver displays his Hall-of-Fame knowledge. When he talks about pitching, it is like hearing Einstein explain the theory of relativity. Seaver knows this, and sometimes it seems as if he is talking down to the audience.

Hernandez seems more a man of the people. He breaks down plays a little better and – most importantly – he isn’t hesitant to question strategy and decisions.
