Dear Jimmy,

A few weeks back, you made fun of Ram coach Mike Martz. Martz had a missed some practice time for what was then described as a “sinus infection.”

You demeaned Martz by calling him “Little Mikey.” You downgraded his sickness to a little cold. Basically, you were implying he was acting like a wimp.

Well, now it turns out, the real diagnosis is that Martz has a bacterial infection near his heart, which can lead to open-heart surgery. Martz has taken a leave of absence from the Rams.

The Memo moral this week is, never judge another man’s pain until all the facts are in.

And even then, it is hard to tell someone else how he is supposed to play through ailments or injuries.

The Memo recommends you apologize this Sunday on Fox. That would make you Big Jimmy. If not, you will come across as Little Jimmy – too small to admit a mistake in judgment.
