Re: WFAN Clinic
CC: Chris Russo
Dear Mark,
Not only are you the co-author of “Game of Shadows” – the book that has detailed Barry Bonds’ alleged steroid use – but you ran a clinic on how to handle an interrogation by Chris “Mad Dog” Russo.
While the WFAN host made ridiculous point after ridiculous point – they were too incomprehensible for us to really explain – and put words in your mouth, you didn’t take the bait.
As Russo – who hasn’t even read your entire book – claimed that you didn’t focus enough on Bonds’ poor 2000 postseason, you patiently listened and calmly tried to correct Russo’s inaccuracies.
And then – when Russo still didn’t get it – you spouted off maybe the best line in the FAN’s nearly 19-year history when you politely told Russo, “This clearly seems to be a pointless conversation, because I think we are talking in two different languages.”
So Mark, not only have you co-written Pulitzer-worthy stories and co-authored a groundbreaking book, but now you have journalism’s most prized seal of approval – a positive Memo.
