Re: Jim Gray’s Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame CC: Rudolph Valentino, Marilyn Monroe

Dear Sideline Reporters,

Finally, Jim Gray has received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

So Ahmad Rashad, Bonnie Bernstein, Pam Oliver et al, you could be next. Finally – Hollywood, again a step ahead of the cultural trends – has figured out that you are stars.

Without you, who’d ask, “Coach, your thoughts on the first half?”

At last, Gray, most famous for harassing Pete Rose during the 1999 World Series, is getting his due. Appropriately, he gets his well-earned star, while Clint Eastwood – we know, we know, who? – doesn’t, according to Hollywood’s Chamber of Commerce. Some in the sportscasting industryare saying, “Forget steroids, Congress should be looking into this situation.” But not The Memo.

Guys, people are jealous. The truth is out. You are celluloid heroes. If The Memo had a microphone, we would

put it in front of you and ask, “Your thoughts?”
