TORONTO – Winger Grant Marshall, suspended pending review after being ejected Friday with a match misconduct for deliberate injury, played in the Devils’ 3-0 loss to the Leafs last night after Lou Lamoriello pleaded his case with the NHL yesterday.

Lamoriello said a decision is yet to be made whether the match penalty will be downgraded. Marshall said he did not have to testify in the league’s review of his case. “I got ticked off and reacted,” Marshall said of his cross-check on Ben Simon.
