OCEANPORT — As a prelude to the opening of the 2012 racing season at Monmouth Park, two days of thoroughbred turf racing will be held at the Meadowlands next week.

Officials at Monmouth Park announced that four grass races each day will be held at the Meadowlands on May 4-5 with racing beginning at 3:30 p.m.

The Meadowlands harness meet also kicks off on May 4, and full harness racing cards will be held both nights.

The fields for the turf races will be drawn at the Monmouth racing office on May 1-2.

The Meadowlands will host a day-night Kentucky Derby Party on May 5 with the first 10,000 fans receiving “Talk Derby To Me” t-shirt.
