MIAMI — Heat fans were greeted by an unwelcome sight in Monday morning’s Miami Herald, as the paper mistakenly ran a full-page ad congratulating LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Co. on winning the NBA championship.

The “Congratulations Miami” ad, which ran the morning after the Dallas Mavericks won the NBA title by defeating the Heat in Game 6 in Miami, also featured Heat championship T-shirts and hats from Macy’s.

What makes the error even more puzzling is that the Heat entered Sunday night’s game trailing the series 3-2, meaning that a Miami win would not have clinched the title.

Dallas clinched its first championship in franchise history with a 105-95 win as star big man Dirk Nowitzki took home NBA Finals MVP honors.
