As the NBA, NHL and MLB all work on their own plans to resume play, MLS has been quietly discussing a bubble plan of its own.
An MLS return date for this summer could be in the works as the league has discussed having all 26 of its teams completing the season in Orlando, according to the Washington Post.
Under the MLS Orlando plan, the more than 1,000 people across all teams who’d need to be on site would be quarantined at a resort near Disney World, the report said, with games and practices mostly taking place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex. ESPN, owned by Disney, is one of MLS’ television partners, and the Washington Post reports the network’s channels would carry games under a proposal which would see multiple games played per day.
One potential hurdle for players is their families would not be allowed to join them, according to the report.
Some MLS players recently returned to the practice field after the league allowed for the start of voluntary individual workouts in areas where such activity is permitted.
