Monroe advanced to its seventh PSAL baseball championship game in eight years by defeating JFK 11-5 in the semifinals yesterday at the College of Staten Island.

The Eagles, who swept the best-of-3 series from Kennedy, will meet the winner of today’s other semifinal between Tottenville and Clinton in the championship game Friday. Third-seeded Tottenville evened its series with No. 2 Clinton with a 3-0 win yesterday.

“I told my team not to celebrate,” Monroe coach Mike Turo said. “We haven’t done anything yet. Our goal all along was to win a second straight championship and this just brings us a step closer.”

The top-seeded Eagles were led by Delgis Soto, who went 2-for-3 with two RBIs in the victory over No. 4 Kennedy.
