Rarely has there been a baseball team from this area so loaded with talent as this year’s Xaverian squad. Maybe it had too much.

The Clippers (29-7) suffered their second consecutive defeat yesterday in the double-elimination CHSAA playoffs, 8-1 to Moore Catholic at Molloy College, ending their season. Moore Catholic (20-8) will play St. Francis Prep today at Molloy. If Prep wins, it will move to Thursday’s title game; a Mavs win will necessitate another game tomorrow.

“I’m stunned,” said Xaverian head coach Dennis Canale. “We didn’t come to play the last two games and it cost us.”
