MIAMI – Vinny Testaverde only threw him three passes, and he didn’t catch any of them, and his fourth-quarter end-around resulted in a six-yard loss, but give Santana Moss a little time to make an impact, OK?

“Let me ask you this question: has he ever played a game in the National Football League?” Herm Edwards said after the Jets’ 24-0 win over the Dolphins. “Did you expect him to go out there and be Bob Hayes?”

No, and neither did Moss.

Moss, the No. 1 draft choice out of Miami (Fla.), was asked how his NFL debut felt out there.

“It felt good; felt like playing at UM, you know?” he said. “I’m home, I got in the flow of the game quick, I was blocking and stuff. I felt good, man.”

Testaverde barely overthrew a diving Moss downfield early in the second quarter. “I should have run through it, but I stopped,” Moss said. “We’ll get it.”

He was asked about the rust. “I’m just getting back to the flow of things,” Moss said. “I see now that next time when I get the opportunity like that, I will make sure I follow through the ball instead of trying to sit there and wait for it. Now I have to make a big improvement from what I did today.”

“He did some good things, he’s gonna get better and this bye week is gonna help him get better, and probably give him some more opportunities to get involved in some more plays and have a chance to make some bigger plays for us,” Testaverde said.
