In a less-than-shocking development yesterday, the YES Network announced it has acquired the rights to broadcast Nets games.

The agreement only needs approval from the NBA.

The next major step for YES is to hire announcers. Ian Eagle and Bill Raftery were the Nets’ signature voices for Fox Sports New York. Though Yankee radio play-by-pay man John Sterling, already a YES employee, said in April he thought the network would ask if he were interested in doing basketball, sources have indicated Sterling is unlikely to get the job.
