The Nets’ management team underwent a makeover yesterday when Bobby Marks, a key member of the organization for more than a decade, was promoted to vice president of basketball operations.

Marks, hired in January of 1996 as a basketball operations assistant, is the longest-tenured member of the department. He directly assists team president Rod Thorn and GM Ed Stefanski in areas of salary-cap management, team travel and the daily business aspects of the operation. Marks, a New Jersey native and Marist College product who also serves as the team’s director of player development, has been the director of basketball operations since 2000.

Noting Marks is “a valued member” of the organization, Thorn said the promotion is “well-earned and well-deserved.”
