Brazil is hoping to avoid a repeat of the 2014 World Cup, as Neymar suffered another injury during practice Thursday.

The injury, which appeared to be on his right foot or ankle, occurred during a warmup passing drill without any evident contact with another player.

Neymar left the 2014 tournament in the quarterfinals after suffering a fractured vertebra in his spine, and he recovered from a broken foot to be able to play part in this year’s edition.

His latest injury scare may be related to the beating he took in Brazil’s 1-1 draw with Switzerland, as he was fouled 10 times in the match.

“He was feeling pain thanks to the large number of fouls he suffered in the Switzerland game,” a team spokesman told reporters Thursday. “He complained of pain and so he went to physio and he will train normally tomorrow.”

If Neymar is able to play in Brazil’s next game against Costa Rica, he’ll be expected to lead his team to victory after its disappointing first result.
