Another New York City streetball season comes to a close and Nike and GameSeven have things set for a big finish at Rivington Court, which is located at 145 Stanton Street on the Lower East Side of Manhattan.
Starting Thursday, there will also be a special Apache Classic event at Rivington, sponsored by L. E. S. Express and Exodus NYC. A number of the travel program’s famous alumni will come back to compete against its current roster in an exhibition game in memory of their former iconic coach Apache Paschall, who died of a heart attack on Jan. 3. Their younger squad will also compete against a team to be determined.
Before the Tournament of Champions and Battle of the Borough gets underway on Saturday, Team Nike will face Ooh-Way, its rival from last year’s Dyckman league, on Friday night.
