In Chapel Hill, N.C. Wayne Ellington had 25 points to help North Carolina beat Clemson, keeping North Carolina (17-2, 3-2 ACC)perfect in 54 home games against the Tigers (16-2, 2-2).

In Norman, Okla., Blake Griffin had 27 points and 18 rebounds, and No. 6 Oklahoma (18-1, 4-0 Big 12) slugged out a win to become the first team in the nation with 18 wins.

In East Lansing, Mich., Kevin Coble scored 31 points and Northwestern stunned No. 7 Michigan State, ending the Spartans’ 28-game home-court winning streak.

In Hempstead, Cornelius Vines scored 15 points and Hofstra (12-7, 4-4 Colonial) rallied for a win over William & Mary.
