Jack Curran was inducted into the Archbishop Molloy Hall of Fame last night at the New York Athletic Club, which came as a surprise to some.

Not that anyone thought that Curran didn’t deserve the honor, but it seemed impossible that he wasn’t already enshrined. He has coached basketball and baseball at the Queens school for 48 years.

So what took so long?

“I didn’t want it,” said Curran, an All Hallows grad. “I didn’t go there. I didn’t think I belonged in it. They finally convinced me.”
