Brazilian midfielder Ze Roberto, who had reportedly been a transfer target of the Red Bulls this summer, said he would stay at Hamburg for the next Bundesliga season. The 35-year-old’s contract runs through next summer, and he told Hamburg’s official website that he planned to see that through.

“I will stay at HSV,” Ze Roberto was quoted as saying, according to a Google translation. He had reportedly been offered a three-year, $15 million contract that also included endorsement opportunities in his native Brazil in the 2012 Olympics and 2014 World Cup.

But whatever the offer, he isn’t taking it.

“Yes. There is no reason for me to leave the club. The fact that I had such a good conversation with the coach, was also very important to me. Also, my family in Germany and Hamburg feels very good – and I feel great. The most important thing is that I have found the HSV a family.”
