DAYTON, Ohio — BYU learned exactly how the shoe feels on the other foot.

Three years after pulling the biggest comeback in NCAA Tournament history, the 11th-seeded Cougars blew a 17-point halftime lead on the same floor where they made history, losing their first-round game, 94-90, to 11th-seeded Ole Miss in a wildly entertaining shootout at UD Arena on Tuesday night.

BYU, which beat Iona in Dayton in the first round in 2012 after trailing by 25, took a seemingly insurmountable lead after hitting 10-of-15 3-pointers in the first half, but the Cougars’ ultra-quick pace allowed the Rebels to run up 60 second-half points, with six players scoring in double-figures.

Led by Stefan Moody (26 points, 10-of-18 from the field), Ole Miss doubled their shooting percentage in the second half, taking 40 shots in each half, but hitting 24 in the final 20 minutes, while converting 25 points off of turnovers.

The Rebels took their first lead of the second half on a Moody 3-pointer with 7:45 remaining, as the two teams traded leads until another Moody 3-pointer, with 1:58 left, gave Ole Miss the lead for good.

BYU’s Tyler Haws scored on a game-high 33 points.
