OTB will soon be setting up shop inside The Sporting Club, a trendy TriBeCa eatery agency officials have been coveting for years.
The Off-Track Betting Corp. has reached an agreement to install a two-teller betting booth inside the sports-themed Hudson Street bar, allowing patrons who watch football and other sports to play the ponies.
The Sporting Club is the first Manhattan restaurant to make a deal with OTB, which will reap most of the profits, officials said.
Both sides hope to sign a formal contract in the next few months.
“We already have our customers that go into the [OTB] branches. We’re really looking for people that are dining, people that are going out socially,” said Denis McManus, OTB senior vice president of new business.
“It’s exciting. It offers a little bit of different type of entertainment.”
The Sporting Club was picked because it seats more than 175 people and is “upscale,” McManus said.
