FOR a change, a Knicks game was decided not on a shot Patrick Ewing took, but one he passed up.

He could have given Jalen Rose what he was asking for and exactly what the Indiana Pacers would have wanted him to do.

He could have taken Rose out in front of 20,000 people at the Garden – and taken himself, and his team, out of the game at the same time.

But because Ewing decided to save his best shots for the basketball game, not the fight, the Knicks had a rousing 94-93 victory over the Pacers…
