Pau Gasol is just looking for a little brotherly love.

The Lakers could earn a playoff berth by beating the Rockets on Wednesday night, but could do the same with a little help from the Grizzlies. If Memphis beats the Jazz earlier Wednesday, the Lakers would be guaranteed to get into the postseason.

Gasol, the Lakers talented forward, happens to know someone very well on the Grizzlies – his brother Marc.

“I told him to please go out there and compete and try to win the game,” Gasol told the LA Times.

Why would that be an issue? Well, Memphis is a lock to make the playoffs, so a victory isn’t nearly as important to the Grizzlies. Marc Gasol played just half the game Monday against the Mavericks.

So what response did Pau get back from his younger sibling?

“He said, ‘We’ll see,’ because last night they played the starters 24 minutes,” Pau said. “They probably [will] play the same the next game.”

There is a slight chance things will be different, though, because the Grizzlies are still trying to finish with a better record than the Clippers, who they will most likely meet in the first round.

No matter what happens between Utah and Memphis, the Lakers would benefit more from simply beating the Rockets. They would earn the seventh seed in the Western Conference and set up a matchup with the Spurs, avoid the Thunder.
