Fordham has extended the contract of men’s basketball coach Tom Pecora through the 2016-17 season, the school announced yesterday.

In Pecora’s second season, the Rams finished 10-19 (3-13) and had winning home (9-6) and non-conference records (7-6) for the first time since 2006-07.

“I’m grateful to the University for making this commitment to myself, my staff and my family,” Pecora said. “Since our first day at Fordham we have been doing everything possible to get this tradition-rich program back to where it should be and we will continue to work hard in order to accomplish our goals and represent Fordham in a first-class manner.”

Pecora originally signed a five-year contract with Fordham in March 2010 after serving as Hofstra’s head coach for nine seasons.
