Samuel Peter continues his quest to prove himself the next great heavyweight tomorrow night when he faces Brooklyn’s Peter Sykes in a 12-round fight in the Reno Events Center in Reno. The bout will be televised at 9 p.m. on Showtime.

Peter, ranked No. 4 by the WBC and No. 5 by the IBF and WBO, is 23-0 with 20 knockouts. He’ll be defending his North American Boxing Federation and United States Boxing Association heavyweight championships. Sykes, 23-1-1 with 6 KOs, is defending his North American Boxing Association title.

“I know I am being underestimated, but it is all good,” Sykes said. “It has been like this my whole career. Everybody I have fought was supposed to beat me, but I came out on top. I am definitely looking to come out on this fight. I am training hard and doing everything I can possibly do to prepare myself. I know this is not a regular fight; this is a big fight for me. I understand the magnitude of this fight and I know what it brings as far as going to the next level and fighting bigger and other opponents.”

Peter is confident he’ll win. “I do not play games when I go to the ring,” he said. “I am the next heavyweight champion of the world and there is no doubt about it.”
