Big day in the clubhouse this morning, Shiro Nitta, the man from Phiten, was here.

What’s Phiten? You’ve seen all those necklaces around the players’ necks, the colorful bands. That’s Phiten. Every team uses the product. When the Phillies use it, they are the Phiten Phils.

I learned about this stuff last year. Having a 16-year-old who plays basketball and baseball helps keep you in the loop.

Phiten (www.phitenusa.com) has become a favorite of the players. The name symbolizes perfect balance. And now the Phiten necklaces are team specific, coming in Yankee pinstripes.

Shiro showed me one their new products, the microtitan ball wristband and a few minutes later players were proudly wearing the bracelet. You might have even saw some in the game against the Astros.

“It helps you recover,’’ Shiro said. And as it says on the package Phiten promotes “healthy living through quality, trusted products which help improve the body’s condition.’’

Essentially, Phiten says the body uses its own natural healing power through the necklaces or other titanium based products, helping the body to relieve stress. It’s all new age stuff.

Does it work? I’ve had back issues since having back surgery in 1987 and purchased a few Phiten necklaces last year and it seemed to help me. My youngest son Corey also wears a band around his neck through all his sports and he says it helps him stay healthy.

Last summer when his necklace broke, I remember running around to a couple stores until we were able to buy a new one, that’s how much Corey likes his Phiten band.

“It gives me energy,’’ Mets shortstop Jose Reyes told me, a guy who has plenty of energy.

I do know this, many Yankees players were happy to get their new products, especially the young guys who are not used to major league perks.
