With a three-day Pick 6 carryover of close to 457G up for grabs – the biggest since a 526G carryover Oct. 1, 2005 – there was a major snafu for NYRA as Verizon lines that send information to simulcast sites went down. So only customers getting signal were on-track and NYC OTB. Beginning with the third race, post times were pushed back a half-hour, and when the situation wasn’t fixed with the fourth race approaching, Pick 6 betting was postponed until today. More than 500G in Pick 6 bets was refunded.

4TH RACE – Anyone planning to single 2-1 favorite Star Studded, Javier Castellano up, in an opening leg of Pick 6, for 2-year-old 75G maiden claimers going a mile on turf, was lucky it was postponed. Star Studded pressed early pace set by Stopbluffing, cruised up outside to take the lead turning for home, was hooked by Maven rallying wide under Jose Santos midstretch, repulsed his bid, opened daylight with a half-furlong left to run, looked home free. But T Harry, 4-1 debuting for John Kimmel with Kent Desormeaux up, after trailing early, came flying from the clouds in deep stretch, nailed Star Studded in the final jump in one of tightest photos you will ever see. Once again, white finish-line poll, which is actually located in front of actual finish line, confused those who thought Star Studded held on.
