With his son back in a Manhattan hospital due to a post-surgery infection, Jorge Posada has more important issues than when MLB will hear his appeal of the six-game suspension Frank Robinson hit him with Friday.

“I am not going to be home this week, I am going to be at the hospital,” said Posada, whose son was re-admitted last Monday when he developed an infection on the left side of his face. He is not expected to be released until Friday or Saturday.

Jorge IV underwent nine hours of cosmetic surgery Aug. 29 to correct the results of an operation he had last year that fused openings in the child’s skull.

“He is doing good now, but he isn’t going home until the weekend.”

Jorge IV, who will be two in November, suffered from a condition called craniosynostosis.

Posada, who was also fined $3,500, does not plan to drop the appeal.

When you realize that Posada learned his son was going back into the hospital last Monday, it might be easier to understand why Posada snapped on umpire Andy Fletcher the way he did when Fletcher called him out on strikes in the ninth inning after doing it in the seventh.

Jorge IV had just gotten out of the hospital Saturday and had an infection that required hospitalization.

With Posada unavailable for an appeal hearing this week and the Yankees leaving for St. Petersburg Thursday night for a 10-day trip, the earliest a hearing could take place is Sept. 24, an off-day. However, there would be only five games left in the season.

“It could go into next season,” said Posada, whom Robinson suspended for making contact with Fletcher and spraying Fletcher’s face with saliva during a very heated argument.
