The Post’s own harness writer/handicapper Debbie Little has been chosen to receive the prestigious Phil Pines Award, named in honor of the late Hall of Fame writer, statistician and longtime Director of the Harness Racing Museum in Goshen, N.Y.
“Phil Pines loved harness racing and was dedicated to promoting it and Debbie Little is totally deserving of this distinguished award. She has done a lot over the years for the sport,” said Hall of Famer John Manzi.
Over the 25 years that Little has been with The Post, she has often used her vacation time to cover important out of town races such as the Little Brown Jug in Delaware, Ohio, the World Trotting Derby in Du Quoin, Ill., and Le Trot Mondial in Quebec, Canada.
The award will be presented by the Monticello-Goshen chapter of the U.S. Harness Writers Association at its annual awards banquet at the Fountains at Wallkill Golf Club on Sunday night.
