The PSAL announced its 2010 boys volleyball playoff seeding this afternoon. Check out the selections below:

All in all, it seems like the PSAL did a solid job – and as most people know, I rarely say that when it comes to playoff seeding. The top four is exactly how I would have put them. Brooklyn Tech and Kennedy were definitely in that next group. There were some issues – Seward Park and Lafayette were probably a tad too high and Long Island City and Bayside perhaps too low – but sound nonetheless.
This year, there is so much parity, it almost doesn’t matter where a team is seeded. MSIT is thought of as the strongest, but the Sea Gulls are not the kind of prohibitive favorites that Cardozo was the last two years.
Speaking of Cardozo, how cool would a Kennedy-Cardozo quarterfinals match be? The Knights lost to Walton four times this year – twice in the regular season and twice in tournaments – but a team coached by Iris Bromfield absolutely cannot be counted out. Don’t be shocked to see JFK get a rematch with Walton in the semis, which would be an absolute war.
And MSIT’s reward for being the top seed? A potential quarterfinal matchup with rival Susan Wagner. The Falcons are the last team the Sea Gulls want to see that early. Sure, Tech swept Wagner twice in the regular season, but there’s so much familiarity there you never know what could happen.

The second round is set for Tuesday and Wednesday at Hunter College, followed by the quarterfinals May 15 back at York. The semifinals are May 18 and the final is May 20, both at Hunter.
