One season, one playoff victory for Robert H. Goddard.

Victoria Picarella gave up one earned run on four hits with 18 strikeouts for No. 14 Goddard in a 5-3 win over No. 19 Evander Childs in the PSAL Class B softball first round Wednesday on Randall’s Island. It marks the first-year varsity program’s first postseason win.

Somalia Muhammad went 1-for-3 with three RBIs and Picarella went 2-for-2 with two runs scored for Goddard (14-3), which meets the No. 3 John Adams/No. 30 Fashion Industries in the second round Friday. Evander finishes 11-6.

No. 11 Scholars Academy 18, No. 22 Roosevelt 8: Lauren Hegel went 3-for-4 with five RBIs and two runs scored and Kayla Nolan also had three hits for Scholars (14-2), which meets the No. 6 Leadership/No. 27 Banneker in the second round Friday. Roosevelt finishes 10-7.

No. 12 Brooklyn Tech 11, No. 21 Queens Vocational Tech 2: Elizabeth Pudel and Brielle Cardieri each had four RBIs apiece for Tech (13-1), which meets the No. 5 Health Professions/No. 28 Edison winner in the second round Friday. Olivia Lautin gave up one earned run on four hits with seven strikeouts in five innings. Queens Vo finishes 10-7.

No. 13 Grady 7, No. 20 School of the Future 3: Merlyn Ramirez Pinzon had three hits and Marika Matheson scored three runs for Grady (13-4), which meets the No. 4 Transit Tech/No. 29 Kennedy winner in the second round Friday. Future finishes 10-4.

No. 15 Baccalaureate 14, No. 18 Monroe 4: Erica Alvarez went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored and Wendy Nulty went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored to lead Baccalaureate (13-4), which meets the No. 2 Lab Museum United/No. 31 Washington Irving winner in the second round Friday. Monroe finishes 11-4.
