PSAL FANS FEELING LEFT OUT
Mike Turo was thrilled when he first learned that his Monroe team was scheduled to play at the new Yankee Stadium for the PSAL title game against Norman Thomas on Tuesday.
Not anymore.
“I’d feel better if it was at another place,” the longtime head coach said. “It’s not worth it.”
The problem is that the PSAL is limiting each school — including the PSAL B title game between Taft and Health Professions — to 800 tickets for security reasons.
“We understand it’s a brand new stadium and everyone wants to come, but we have to be concerned about crowd control,” said Department of Education spokesperson Margie Feinberg.
The tickets are free, but Turo said he’s going to have to turn away people from his school. “There’s no way we can accommodate everyone with that,” Turo said. “It’s completely taking away from the game. “
