New Utrecht ended its disappointing season on a positive note.

The Utes blanked local Brooklyn rival FDR, 20-0, to pick up their win on the final weekend of the regular season Friday afternoon in Bensonhurst. Davin Collins ran for over 150 yards and scored on touchdown runs of 70 and 25 yards and Kennedy Tucker recovered a fumble for New Utrecht (1-8).

“We talked about going out on a high note, giving the seniors a chance to have one win and build for next year,” said New Utrecht coach Alan Balkan, who is close friends with FDR’s Paul Klyap, his college roommate. “It was significant for the team for next year. It was good for the seniors to get one win. They had a tough year. We were in some games and we got blown out in some games. It’s also good for the underclassmen. It’s a good start for next season.”

FDR finishes 0-9.

Evander Childs 33, Smith 16: Alieu Jarjou had a 3-yard touchdown run and Tevin Woodley returned an interception to the house for Evander Childs (3-5), which closes out its season against Adlai Stevenson Nov. 12 at 11 a.m. Diamonte Corley had pair of rushing touchdowns for Smith, which falls to 7-2 and meets Far Rockaway next weekend.
