Sabrina Fletcher had 15 points and Asha Hedington had 12 points to lead No. 8 MLK to a 45-27 win over No. 9 Baruch College Campus in the PSAL Class A girls basketball second round Tuesday on the West Side of Manhattan. The Knights meet the winner of a second-round game between No. 1 Goldstein and No. 16 Hillcrest in the quarterfinals Tuesday.
Yamira Saez added 10 points for King (18-1). Baruch, which won the ‘A’ title back in 2009, finishes 14-9.
Curtis 71, Lehman 26: Jessica Rosalbo had 18 points, Shannon McGill had 14 points and Danielle Leguillou had 12 points for No. 2 Curtis (16-8) in the ‘A’ second round. The Warriors host No.10 New Dorp in the quarterfinals Tuesday. No. 15 Lehman finishes 13-6.
Wings Academy 51, Mott Haven 44: Amirah Greene had 13 points and Karen Bellamy had 10 points for No. 4 Wings (20-2) in the ‘A’ second round. The Wings host the No. 11 Lafayette/No. 38 Bayside winner Tuesday in the quarterfinals. Kailia Attry had 15 points and Shaakira Harewood added 13 for No. 14 Mott Haven (15-5).
Lab Museum United 51, James Madison 32: Ashanti Plummer had 20 points and 15 rebounds and Jenny Ramirez had 12 points, six assists and eight rebounds to lead No. 4 LMU (22-4) in the ‘A’ second round. The Gators host No. 12 Tottenville in the quarterfinals Tuesday. No. 13 Madison finishes 13-5.
New Dorp 72, Graphic Communication Arts 56: Jackie Rupelli had 26 points and Racqual Baudanza had 23 points to lead No. 10 New Dorp (13-11) in the ‘A’ quarterfinals. The Central Cougars travel to No. 2 Curtis in the quarterfinals Tuesday. No. 26 Graphics finishes 14-6.
Tottenville 73, August Martin 53: Cheryl Lopez had 26 points and Giovanna Blanco had 12 points to lead No. 12 Tottenville (17-7) in the ‘A’ second round. The Pirates travel to No. 4 Lab Museum United for the quarterfinals Tuesday. No. 28 Martin finishes 13-6.
PSAL CLASS B SECOND ROUND
Pace 63, NEST 59: Tiana Jones had 26 points and Ashley Johnson had 24 points to lead No. 5 Pace (18-1), which meets the No. 4 Queens Vocational/No. 13 American Studies Lehman winner in the quarterfinals next Wednesday. No. 12 NEST finishes 16-3.
