The Red Bulls completed their trade with Columbus, getting a conditional 2011 MLS SuperDraft pick for the rights to Eric Brunner.

The 6-4, 170-lb. Brunner had been a second-round pick by the Red Bulls last year, but left the team when asked to take a developmental contract. He played 11 games for Miami in the USL, and came back to camp with the Red Bulls, but didn’t make the cut.

I believe the 23-year-old Ohio State grad now is taking the developmental deal he declined here, but he is at least closer to his Dublin home. What do you guys think of this? Happy the kid gets to be near home? Glad the Red Bulls at least got something for his rights? Would you just have stayed in lovely Miami? (Not hating on Ohio, just asking. I mean, South Beach has….sights…)
