The Red Bulls re-signed John Wolyniec to a new contract today. The forward _ who rediscovered his scoring touch during the MLS Cup run _ had been out of contract at the end of last season.

“We are excited to have John back for the 2009 season,” sporting director Jeff Agoos said in a release. “With his hard work and dedication to the club, John has become a fan favorite during his multiple stints here. We look forward to his future contribution as a leader on and off the field.”

The Staten Island native is actually in his fourth stint with Metro/Red Bull. He started all four playoff games last year, notching two goals and an assist.
