The New York Red Bulls are finally set to introduce Erik Soler as their new sporting director. Yes, we know everybody reported this a month ago, and it’s one of the worst-kept secrets in MLS; but what can I tell you?

At least now Mr. Soler should be officially unveiled tomorrow, and should be available for questioning/grilling at a Monday press conference. Hopefully I’ll be able to get back to you guys after that with some more tangible answers for the director of the team after I finish my advance for the Jimmy V Classic.

It’s been a fait accompli, but what do you guys think of the hiring of Soler? Forget the passport; but were you hoping for a sporting director with MLS experience? Do you think they HAVE to hire a coach with an MLS background to have any chance of success? Holla at us…
