Grover Cleveland is on some kind of roll.
The Tigers, who have won five straight PSAL league matches, finished first in their inaugural host tournament Saturday in Ridgewood, Queens. Cleveland swept Forest Hills in the championship match and did not lose a set all day. Junior outside hitter Carolina Herrera was named tournament most valuable player.
Cleveland, guided by first-year coach Anna Dawidowska, defeated John Adams in the semifinals and Forest Hills knocked off Townsend Harris. Seward Park, Bayard Rustin, Richmond Hill, Aviation, All City Leadership Academy and Flushing also participated in the tournament.
The Tigers, who are now 5-4 in PSAL Queens A7 after starting 0-4, will compete next weekend in the John F. Kennedy tournament.
