Kamari Murphy had arguably the best July out of any New York City basketball player. Two weeks ago, after a game at Dyckman, he rattled off new offer after new offer.

“Right now it’s kind of confusing, but it feels good,” Murphy on Aug. 4. “I got a lot of new schools, but I haven’t narrowed it down yet.”

Well, now he has.

The springy, 6-foot-8 Lincoln graduate has a final eight of Miami, Oklahoma State, Missouri, Florida, Temple, Auburn, Maryland and UConn, according to his Long Island Lightning AAU coach Dana Dingle. UConn, Missouri and Auburn are all recent additions. Miami and Oklahoma State have been mainstays, but Murphy doesn’t have a leader.

Next year, Murphy will be at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., for a post graduate season. After leaving Bishop Ford, the wiry forward had two big seasons for the Railsplitters, leading Lincoln to the PSAL Class AA city title game at Madison Square Garden this past winter. Murphy averaged 13.4 points and 10.3 rebounds for coach Tiny Morton’s squad as a senior.
