IRVING, Texas – Terrell Owens’ days in Dallas are done. ESPN reported last night that the Cowboys have decided to cut the controversial wide receiver, ridding them of a big locker-room distraction but also absorbing a big hit on their salary cap.
Owens, 35, was paid a $12 million signing bonus just last year, included as part of a new four-year, $34 million deal. The team did not immediately have a comment. A spokesman for Owens said he hadn’t heard the news, and that Owens was traveling and could not immediately be reached.
Just a few weeks ago, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones indicated that T.O. was staying.
