Brett Favre has asked the Green Bay Packers for his release from the team according to ESPN.com.

Favre’s agent, James “Bus” Cook, sent a letter to the team with the request for Favre’s unconditional release that arrived this morning.

This means Favre will likely play in 2008, but not in Green Bay.
