You knew after Landon Donovan tore it up in the Confederations Cup he was going to star drawing interest from Europe. Well, we’ve finally got the first semi-solid reports of interest cominig in, with Gazzata dello Sport saying the Galaxy star could be headed to Serie A.

Recently-promoted Livorno is preparing a bid for Donovan, according to club president Aldo Spinelli. They spent a year in Serie B, but now that they’re back up they’re looking to spend some coin on the U.S. National Team’s all-time leading scorer.

OK, now I know Gooch went to AC Milan while Donovan would be on the other end of the table. But Gooch went on a free transfer, while MLS had valued Donovan at at least $10 million. Well, after the insane gobs of cash being thrown around in this transfer window, I’m thinking the league should be able to get a lot more. Especially since apparently Spinelli says the transfer fee won’t be a problem, but Donovan’s wage demands might.
