Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith not only plans to play in the opener against the Giants after suffering a flag-football injury, he says he’ll be aiming for safety Michael Johnson.

SI.com reports Smith said he wants revenge for the hit leveled by Johnson that broke the receiver’s arm in Week 16 last year.

“I’m going after him,” Smith said.

Smith also broke his arm playing flag football this offseason and his status for the opener has been in doubt since.

Asked if he was going to play in the Sept. 12 opener, Smith replied, “Positive,” he said. “I’d bet my game check on it.”

Johnson, however, may not be there, competing for a job in the Giants secondary at training camp in Albany.
